Back to the High Programmer's Blog
An actual rant. Well I'll be.
I've got a small backlog of rants about running web sites. I'd planned to put them into a longer rant, but I realize I'll probably never get around it. So I'll see about posting parts of it as blog entries. Or something.
The other one I hate is when they only give you 13 or so visible characters and it horizontally scrolls when you type stuff in. Since there isn't a scroll bar, you have to move the cursor around with the arrows to see if you typed it in right.
That's particularly appetizing when your entry is being turned into a long string of *s because it's some sort of password entry form. So not only is the form scrolling stupidly, but it's scrolling stupidly in such a way as to make it impossible to tell if entry has continued or stopped.
On a completely different note, the word 'where' in paragraph 2 should read 'were'. Also '...breaking the number into groupS'
I can't believe noone has done an interface where they SHOW you a generic credit card and have form entry boxes in place of where the numbers would be. There'd be 4 number entry boxes, a pull down menu for the expiry date, and an entry box for your name.
Hey Alan, I have a bug report. I have "remember me" checked, and when I came to this page it was set up correctly with my info, but I left the page (without writing anything) for some reason, came back later, and the name/website information was gone, causing me to have to type it in again.
